About Trinity Wireless Solutions

Trinity Wireless Solutions was founded in early 2022 by Rob Koch, a wireless technology expert with experience spanning the defense, and commercial wireless industry at companies large and small. TWS seeks to serve our customers, community and nation in the area of wireless technology research and development. Every development project, large or small, has inherent risk. The complexity of wireless technology adds additional risk. TWS offers services to manage the technical aspects of your wireless project from the earliest stages allowing you to mitigate risk and take control. Our services include technology research and discovery, prototyping, system design, project leadership and commissioning. Trinity Wireless Solutions' engineers have experience with a broad range of projects ranging from highly customized wireless embedded system development to large commercial and industrial infrastructure. From legacy AM/FM analog voice all the way to 5G packet data network systems, we have the know how to shepherd your project to a successful conclusion.

Leadership

Rob Koch, Owner and CTO

Biography:

Rob has been involved with wireless systems his entire life. The son and grandson of career civil servants in land mobile radio and telecommunications, he served in the US NAVY, maintaining communications, navigation and RADAR systems, rose to the rank of First Class Petty Officer, was deployed overseas, and was decorated for outstanding job performance. He completed his education at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and eventually earning a Master of Engineering degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering also at UCSD. Rob started his engineering career in the defense industry, developing high performance RF transceivers and free space optical communications. Rob would eventually lead several projects, developing new radio technologies and putting them in production. Along the way, Rob learned and grew to become the face and the voice of his engineering teams, holding customer facing roles with full responsibility for technical demonstration and presentation. Rob continued in technical leadership at a Fortune 100 company in a role responsible for new product introduction leadership and for technical presentation to strategic accounts. Rob has recent experience in the mining and tunnelling industry, holding an executive role for a major supplier of confined space communications systems including analog and digital distributed antenna systems. Rob has deep theoretical and practical knowledge of modern wireless communications systems including 4G and 5G systems. Rob’s passion is wireless communications, he is constantly learning the latest technologies, eager to apply his knowledge and experience and even more eager to share that knowledge with the next generation.

Engineering Team

Bob Koch, Public Safety Wireless Engineer

Biography:

Bob is a seasoned telecommunications professional with 42 years of experience in wired and wireless public safety telecommunications holding several technical execution leadership roles during his career with the County of Los Angeles Department of Internal Services. He was directly engaged with the procurement, installation, commissioning and maintenance of among the largest public safety communications systems in the world. He has extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of public safety voice communications standards including legacy analog, digital, APCO P25 PI and PII, EDACS, and Motorola simulcast. Bob is a recognized technical leader in the commissioning, optimization, troubleshooting and repair of large public safety wireless systems. Bob holds an FCC commercial license, is licensed by the FAA on NDB transmitters, is a credentialed college level educator in electronics and wireless technology, with 20 years of classroom instruction experience. He is a longtime member of APCO and the California Public Radio Association CPRA.
